According to many reports, suffering from anxiety can end up causing some individuals to start hoarding, and that the resulting hoarding can also involve individuals having difficulty complying with various negative emotions. In terms of anxiety and hoarding, this is something that occur in two steps: finding an item you wish to keep and becoming both extremely anxious and uncomfortable at the mere thought of getting rid of it.

Trauma

We all experience some sort of trauma throughout our lives, such as losing either a loved one or something important to us. One way to help ease this type of trauma is to begin collecting items that you feel can offer you a sense of security; however, what can begin as a simple collecting hobby can end up leading to hoarding.

If an individual’s parents were hoarders, then the individual themselves could also be prone to hoarding as well. This is because the environment in which we are raised always affects how we live as adults. This means that if someone is never taught how to properly organize the items they own, there is an increased chance that clutter will occur.

It’s always difficult to overcome issues involving hoarding, mainly because of all of the emotional reasons that come with holding on to all sorts of items.

Comfort is the best feeling to have when it comes to getting over a hoarding issue and finally taking the step to start getting rid of all of the clutter. Take the time change into some comfortable clothing and listen to some soothing music either while you do the job or even before you decide to tackle anything.

Make it a Group Effort

Take the time to organize a family meeting and explain the situation. Determine how many people want to pitch in and help you get organized. Having such a large amount of help and support can work wonders for you.
